April 11th
On April 11th my brother Ryan turned another year older. Ryan, Lisa and I went downtown DC to check out the grand opening of the Newseum. I had heard on the news that morning it would be free today only so we headed down via metro and checked it out. You could spend a lot of time in there reading our past history on the news...it was quite a site to see.
Part of the World Trade Center
Front pages from all over the world
Amazing Photos
Later that day we had some cake and celebrated Ryan's birthday. He got some scrapbooks of his life...
Chloe's gift was a hug...or two or three!
Happy Birthday Big Brother (AKA Big Mouth)...Love Ya!

Woodley Park Zoo in Washington DC
The kids had off of school on Monday so we took advantage of the day off and Lisa's visit to go to the zoo. We really would have loved a sunny day instead we were very cold. I think it was in the 40's and drizzling half the day!
The EMU didn't seem to like the rain. He/She was right next to the fence. Chloe asked if it was real and alive...she started talking to it and it opened it's eye and moved a bit more.
This cool thing didn't care about the rain.
The cheetahs wanted to stay dry. Apparently later in the day after the rain let up they started to mark their territory again...we heard this from the 2nd half of our group.
One of the two Giant Pandas was kind enough to get into view. Actually he was a bit edgy and wouldn't stop walking round and round and round...
This 'panda' stood still to get some pictures!
We were planning on meeting Granny, Grampy, their guests from Michigan and Uncle Ryan at the zoo. I forgot my cell phone in another coat so we didn't catch up with them right away. The zoo is a big place, but we crossed paths and decided to meet up later since they had seen what we had not and vice versa!
The bird house is being worked on among other exhibits, but the birds were very cool. I wish I took more pictures of the birds, but my battery was running low and I wanted to save some battery for the tigers...glad I did!
These tigers were very hungry and could hear the zookeepers inside the door ready to feed them.
This tiger looks like it had just had it's lunch and was ready to play.
These two cracked us up... They were growling at each other and one put on the chase. The raced all over and the one fell into the water. As cold as it was outside we thought he'd jump right out of the water, but no. Once he did get out of the water the chase was back on!
Lisa Chloe and Isaac enjoying the entertainment!
This lion had some sort of bag. Maybe it was full of 'Cat Nip'! He was tossing it around and having fun with himself.
Isaac mimicking the lion...
Also he's not shy....
Isaac and Chloe named this frog Frankie.
Even though were got wet and were a bit numb from the cold we had a fun day at the zoo!

Another Win!
Isaac's lacrosse team adds on another win for their team "GO CAVS"! They won 5-2. Isaac played goalie the first half without letting any goals in.
In the 2nd half he played out in the field and got his stick on the ball quite a few times. He didn't score, but did a great job passing. I believe he had an assist.
My friend Lisa is visiting from Seattle for a week and had never seen a lacrosse game before. It was a very chilly and windy day too. Chloe was in Lisa's lap under the blanket...trying to stay warm!

Painting Project
Some of you know I've been painting our master bedroom and bathroom. I've been asked how it's going and if we like it. We do love it! We got new furniture as well which we've never had before.
The brown color is called 'sauteed mushrooms' and the cream color is called 'heavy cream'.
I painted the tray ceiling two colors as well...love it!
The shades are new as well...the one on this photo is green color (sage) matches the sun room.
The sun room color green is 'crocodile tears'. This is the same color used in our main level sun room (pictures from that are in March 2007 blog area if your interested in looking back at those.
The shades in here are new and are a cream color.
The wall that has the new dresser/mirror is also green. The dresser fits perfectly on that wall!!!
Sun room picture again with shades up...looks more like fall outside than spring!
I took this photo to see the tray ceiling into the sun room, but the color in the sun room is off b/c of the flash...
Here's the new furniture!
It's not easy getting pictures of the bathroom, but I managed to get some. The paint in here is the same colors with a glossy version.
The walls are brown in the larger part of the bathroom. The tray strip is green. The toilet room is green and all the trim and doors are cream.
Toilet room..not easy to get a picture in there, but wanted to show you the cute curtain in there. It's green. The curtains in the main part of the bathroom are strips with creams, greens, and browns.
